Role supports the ongoing digital IT modernisation of a police force.
The New South Wales Police Force are on the hunt for a Director – Office of The Chief Information and Technology Officer (CITO), Digital Technology & Innovation. The position will be part of the Office of the CITO, Digital Technology and Innovation team.
The director, Office of CITO, provides policy, planning, commercial, business and operational advice and support to the CITO to facilitate the achievement of organisational and management objectives.
Key abilities include:
- Provide leadership and direction to a range of ICT, corporate and executive support services ensuring that high quality ICT support services are delivered in an effective and efficient manner. Create and maintain highly professional, customer oriented, innovative and future-focused ICT support capability within the command.
- Monitor strategic and corporate planning and performance activities and processes to ensure alignment with broader corporate and government planning instruments.
- Ensure that processes and procedures for the end-to-end management of ICT commercial instruments (including contracts and software) is delivered in line with legislative, commercial, government and corporate requirements.
- Establish effective operating support models to ensure provision of appropriate business and commercial support to facilitate effective operation across the command.
- Analyse ICT organisational and sector strategic issues and options and align technology vision with business strategy to provide advice to guide the development, implementation, and governance of ICT strategies.
- Oversight and provide advice and support to the CITO to develop, implement and maintain best practice in areas of finance, human resources, ICT contract and commercial supply, and change management strategies and frameworks.
- Lead and/or contribute to projects to support the achievement of organisation level strategic and operational objectives.
Key challenges will be:
- Foster cooperation, compliance, and engagement to manage and inform ICT strategy, commercial and contractual decisions in an environment of conflicting interests and opinions.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and work collaboratively to optimise resources across the command.
- Manage transformational change to achieve organisational objectives with minimum disruption to operational ICT services.
The Director Office of the CITO is expected to exercise independent judgment in the implementation and delivery of approaches and practices and is fully accountable for the quality and integrity of advice provided.
The role defers to the CITO on complex issues of a technical, legislative or political nature or decisions that will substantially alter the outcome or timeframes, major issues or conflicts arising in the course duties or matters requiring a higher delegated authority including approval for expenditure or sensitive issues.
